My background
Since 2001
I started writing code out of curiosity, to understand how things worked and try building things of my own. Since 2001, that curiosity has become a career working with very different companies and people, without losing the pleasure of solving a problem with good software.
That journey took me from Italy to Switzerland, the United States, and Southeast Asia, eventually to Vietnam, where I live today. Working across fashion, air transport, and manufacturing taught me to understand the work, constraints, and habits of the people using a system before choosing its technology.
That is also why many collaborations have lasted more than ten years. Some clients became friends, partners, and cofounders of new ventures. Working together over time makes it possible to understand the problems properly and stay with a project as it changes, beyond its first delivery.
In fields such as legal tech, aerospace, and healthcare, that continuity also taught me how much technical decisions matter. I now bring that experience to my work as a CTO and advisor, helping business leaders and software teams understand each other and find a practical way forward together.
What I’m building
Views and QSee.ai
This approach also led to Views, which now takes up an important part of my time. The idea is to give people using AI a way to read responses from several models side by side, see where they agree, and know what needs a closer look before relying on it. You can explore the preview.
With QSee.ai, I bring AI into a very practical task: measuring garments and checking their quality through computer vision. I joined as an advisor and am now CTO and cofounder, overseeing the platform’s development from image capture to the services that process those images.
Other projects
Consulting and open source
Alongside these products, I continue consulting through UmbertoGiacobbiDotBiz, working with companies when the software they use every day needs to evolve. I also collaborate as an expert with Tegus, sharing experience gathered across the different industries I have worked in.
Even projects that pause leave something to build on. Jellypic is on hold, but its software foundation continues in Infrastruttura, where I bring together reusable components for other products. With Stilla, I explore sustainable design, taking that same curiosity beyond software.
Programming also remains a personal pleasure, as well as a job. Many tools and prototypes start with an everyday need or an idea I want to try. You can find those I share as open source on my GitHub profile.
